Mr. Ahrens has ten years of experience with the pulp and paper industry.
As the Engineering Manager, he is responsible for overseeing the
design of equipment and systems from conception through installation.
In this role, Mr. Ahrens has initiated the development of system
and engineering standards for Glens Falls Interweb, Inc. Combining
mechanical engineering disciplines with his software development
abilities, he created computer-aided design standards for several
pulp & paper applications from the headbox to the reel, as well
as database utilities for tracking customers, contacts, inquiries,
and bookings.
Mr. Ahrens' hydraulic expertise and available engineering tools
has been expanded to include the use of Fluent 5.5.14 (a finite
volume based solver for the analysis of incompressible and compressible
fluids of laminar and turbulent flows) and Gambit 1.3 (a 3-D preprocessor
for developing model and mesh geometries), collectively known as
computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
Mr. Ahrens' engineering and communication skills, combined with
his technical and sales support, have led to the successful design
of over twenty major projects over the course of his career. These
projects have included detail machine design, process and hydraulic
design, machine layout and generation of operations and instruction
manuals.
