PROJECT SUMMARY - REBUILD OF AIRFORM MACHINE

To increase machine speed while maintaining target basis weight, Glens Falls Interweb (GFI) participated in the rebuild of an existing airform machine. As part of the project, GFI designed and supplied a new vacuum forming box and fabric stabilizer box to fit in the existing machine line. The new vacuum box was supplied complete with precision decking, pressure diffusers, and control dampers.

A subsequent goal of the project was to improve a sheet transfer arrangement in order to accommodate the higher speeds. This was accomplished by rebuilding the existing internal vacuum box of a suction roll and converting it to a narrow slot blow box. Included in the supply of equipment from GFI were new brackets and framing to relocate existing wire return rolls.

GFI provided installation supervision, and a follow up process review for the machine line rebuild.
